Baby Movement Matters
These friendly, baby-led sessions are structured as a time for exploration, focused on healthy movement development. As an Infant Developmental Movement Educator (IDME), Martha holds the space, helps support and encourage healthy movement development, and responds to questions as they come up. Through witnessing and gentle play, we’ll learn more about the importance of integrating reflexes, pausing in places of transition, and how movement and emotional development is very much a relational process between parent/carer and baby. We’ll also become more aware of optimal handling techniques, and - perhaps most importantly - meeting our babies where they are.
Together, we create an environment of safety and comfort for our babies, and support them in finding their own way to full movement potential.
Classes are organised by babies’ current movement - from ‘Newborns to Sitters’, and ‘Sitters to Walkers’. As babies naturally develop at differing paces, there will likely be babies of differing ages in each class. If you are unsure which session to join, please get in touch!
These classes are relevant for all babies and parents/carers. You may be interested in learning more about how you might best support your baby’s movement development, or be keen to meet a community of other parents and babies. Similarly, you may have been told that your baby ‘should’ be doing something by now, or feel confused with conflicting information and be seeking informed guidance. You are all welcome, please feel free to join.
Martha is an Infant Developmental Movement Educator (IDME), certified with the School of Body-Mind Centering.
